BOWIE
EASES BY LAMAR |

Star Telegram, Oct

If you’ve ever
seen Arlington Bowie quarterback Deric Davis heave a football,
you’d understand the importance of using both hands to try and
haul it in. |

The TCU commit’s 21-yard
touchdown snag early in the
third quarter Friday night
against Arlington Lamar was one
of several highlight-reel plays
the Volunteers made in their
35-13 win at Cravens Field. The
victory moved them to 6-1
overall and 3-0 in District
4-5A. Lamar fell to 5-3 overall
and 2-2 in 4-5A.

This
Week's Big Game - Star Telegram, Oct 14, 2009 |
Tobias:
I’m taking a cue
from the
presidential
election television
and declaring
District 4-5A a
decided providence.
Bowie, Lamar
Arlington and Martin
are the winners and
playoff teams. So
this means this game
is for seeding.
Bowie continues that
unstoppable balanced
offense while Lamar
has one of the
area’s top ground
attacks. But I don’t
see anyone knocking
off the Vols, so I’m
also declaring them
the 4-5A champion.

|
Carlos:
Declarations mean
nothing in this
district. Talent is
all over the place
in the AISD, and the
playing field is as
close to even as it
has ever been among
the five schools.
But none of the
talent stands out
like Ja’Terian
Douglas, the Lamar
back. Dude can
accelerate like a
BMW. If there are
any holes in the
Bowie defense, he
will go right
through them.

New Names Pop Up
at Midseason |
|
Star
Telegram, Oct 12, 2009, Carlos Mendez |
Even halfway through
the high school
football season, new
names can emerge.
One did at Arlington
Bowie, which might
reap the benefits
for its running
game. The Vols got a
big performance from
a sophomore running
back as they look
ahead to tuning up
their offense.
